About the Work in the “We Will Get There” Zine

This zine grew out of workshops led jointly by Campaign for Southern Equality (CSE) and LGBTQ+ youth-serving organizations across North Carolina, including the LGBTQ Center of Durham, Time Out Youth (Charlotte), Youth OUTright (Asheville), and OUTright Youth of Catawba Valley (Hickory). The team included Liz Williams and Andie Morgenlander, team members of Southern Equality Studios, CSE’s public arts and activism program, alongside Alexis Stratton and Adam Polaski, the co-authors, of Trans Kids, Our Kids: Stories & Resources from the Movement for Trans Youth (2024) .

As artists and storytellers, we wanted to hear directly from youth—and see what stories emerged when we put the power of art and creativity in their hands.
